올해의 주제는 다음과 같습니다.
Silently Loud
자연의 입장에서 인간은 지옥이다. 자연이 갖는 순리를 무시한 채 인간이 규정한 잣대로 모든 것을 객체화하고 평가하기 때문이다. 상대를 고려하지 않고 일방적으로 규정하는 것 또한 또 다른 형태의 단절이며 고립이기에 이는 지옥이라 할 수 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 자연은 사심이 없다. 인간의 태도에 아랑곳하지 않고 스스로의 생존만을 위해 노력할 뿐이다. 그 생존을 위한 몸부림이 때로는 인간에게 지옥처럼 비추곤 한다. 만일 자연을 자연의 입장에서 의식하고 그에 걸맞은 태도를 갖춘다면 어떨까. 인간은 그제서야 깨닫게 될 것이다. 자연은 단 한순간도 지옥이었던 적이 없음을 말이다.
인간은 때로 자연의 존재를 간과하기도 한다. 본디 인간은 자연 속에 존재하는데 스스로를 주인공이라 강하게 믿는 탓에 자연과의 연결성을 망각하기 일쑤다. 인간 탄생 직후부터 자연은 배경이 되어 인간에게 영향을 끼치는 외적인자로 작용한다. 그러나 그렇게 구성된 환경이 너무 자연스러운 나머지 인간은 인간 자체를 우선시하고 자연을 등한시하는 경우가 발생한다.
이번 공모전은 생태계 차원에서 인간의 실존과 삶의 경계를 더욱 세밀하게 들여다 보고, 서로의 연결성을 환기하는 데 중점을 두고자 한다. 사진을 통해 표현된 인간과 자연의 공존, 그 아름다운 관계가 더욱 더 넓은 세상에 발현되기를 희망해본다.
작가 혹은 단체 모두 지원할 수 있습니다.
개인은 특정시리즈나 전체 작품 중 8점에서 12점의 작품을 제출해야 합니다.
올해의 작가 1명과 15명에서 20명 사이의 예술가가 선정될 예정입니다.
공모전의 혜택은 다음과 같습니다.

1. 일반
목적> 동강국제사진제는 전 세계 작가들과 함께하는 사진 축제입니다. 동강국제사진제 공모의 목적은 작가를 지원하고 작품을 보여줄 무대를 제공하며 신진 및 기존 작가의 사진작품을 전시하는 것입니다.
장소> 선정된 작가의 작품은 동강국제사진제의 주요 전시공간, 야외공간 또는 스크리닝으로 전시됩니다.
날짜> 올해 동강국제사진제의 주요 프로그램은 2024년 7월 12일부터 9월 29일까지 개최됩니다. (야외 전시는 2025년 동강국제사진제 전까지 전시됩니다.).
응모자격> 제22회 동강국제사진제의 공모는 국내외의 작가, 단체 모두에게 열려 있습니다.
제출마감> 2024년 5월 31일 00시 00분까지입니다. 응모비용은 없습니다.
2. 제출방법
제출>
1. 작품: Jpeg 형식의 디지털이미지 8~12점, 각 파일은 긴변 4,000pixel 이상의 파일
2. 이력서: 이름, 주소, 이메일, 핸드폰번호, 간략한 이력과 작가 소개
3. 작품설명서: 400자 이하의 짧은 작품 설명
지원방법 + 접수> 동강국제사진제 공모전은 응모는 이메일로 접수합니다.
필수항목이 누락되었을 경우 접수되지 않습니다.

3. 올해의 작가 선정 및 전시 관련 수상작 선정
동강국제사진제의 큐레이터 팀이 심사하고 올해의 작가와 수상작을 선정합니다.
결과공지> 2024년 6월 7일까지 동강국제사진제 홈페이지 공고 및 선정된 작가에게 개별적으로 결과를 공지합니다.
홍보> 선정된 작품은 동강국제사진제 홈페이지에 게시되고 인쇄 및 온라인 매체를 통해 진행되는 홍보캠페인에 포함됩니다. 작품은 동강국제사진제에서 제작하고, 작가와 협의하에 전시됩니다.

We invite you to submit your work to the 22nd DongGang International Photo Festival, to be held this year from July 12th to September 29th, 2024 in Yeongwol, Gangwon State, Korea.
This year's theme;
Silently Loud
From nature's perspective, humanity itself is a form of hell. That is because of the tendency of humans to objectify and judge everything according to their own standards, thereby ignoring the natural world's intrinsic order. This one-sided disregard for the non-human elements around us is another form of disconnection and isolation, which can be seen as a definition of hell. Despite this, nature maintains a remarkable selflessness. It is driven solely by the instinct for survival, unmoved by human perspectives. To humans, nature’s struggle for survival seems unforgiving akin to the concept of hell. What if we shifted our perspective to see nature from its own vantage point and cultivated an attitude in harmony with it? Then, we would realize that nature has never been hellish, not for an instant.
Humans at times fail to acknowledge the presence of nature. We are inherently part of nature, yet often, we elevate ourselves to the status of the main characters, forgetting our intrinsic connection to the natural world. From birth, nature serves as a backdrop, an external influence shaping our lives. Yet, this omnipresent environment leads us to prioritize ourselves, neglecting nature in the process.
This competition aims to take a closer look at the existential boundaries and lives of humans from an ecosystem perspective, focusing on highlighting our interconnectedness. It is our hope that the beautiful relationship between humans and nature, expressed through photography, will come to fruition and be manifested on a greater scale.
Individuals and collectives are welcome to apply;
individuals should submit between 8 - 12 photographs from a particular series or body of work.
Selected 15 - 20 artists including ‘Artist of the year’ (individual artist or 1 team of winner) will benefit from:
A-year-long exhibition that exposures at the DIPF Festival - inclusion in art magazine, any related press (long term festival representation and promotion on official website, publications, catalog that being seen by a substantial number of visual arts professionals and the media) where the works viewed by an international panel of influential experts in the field of photography
* 'Artist of the year' - solo exhibition at DIPF (production - printing, framing or related presentation material will be provided) and eligible for travel and accommodation to attend the opening.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
1. GENERAL
Objectives DongGang International Photo Festival aims to feature a quality selection of photography projects from around the world. DIPF’s open call is devoted to offering a platform and supporting photography, showcasing photography and related media from emerging and established artists.
Venue_
The selected photographs will be presented to DongGang International Photo Festival in DongGang in main exhibition space, outdoor space and screening at the opening ceremony.
Dates_
The Main Program of 22nd DongGang International Photo Festival will be held from Jul. 12th to Sep. 29th, 2024
Eligibility_Submission to DongGang International Photo Festival 2024 is open to artist from around the world.
Entry Deadline_Submissions must be made before May 31, 2024, 23.59 hrs. There is no entry fee for submissions.

3. SELECTED WORKS
Selection_All submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the curatorial team of the Festival.
Status Notification_All selected artists will be notified by June 7th, 2024
Exhibition_22nd DongGang International Photo Festival will collect the digital files from selected artists and the production will be provided for the exhibitions.
Publicity_The selected projects will be presented on the Festival’s website and be part of the Festival’s promotional campaign in print and online media, increase awareness of the selected works in the photography community.
