우리나라 사진계의 최고 권위와 역사를 지닌 동강사진상은 성실한 사진 창작 활동을 통해 국내 사진 발전에 기여하고, 한국 사진을 해외에 널리 알린 사진가에게 수여되는 상이다. 매년 사진계 전문가들의 엄정한 심사를 거쳐 수상자를 선정하며, 동강국제사진제 기간 중 수상 작가의 작품세계를 조명하는 전시가 개최된다.

 

임안나는 현대 사회에 내재한 불안과 공포, 권력의 폭력성을 특유의 상상력과 독창적인 시선으로 재현해 왔으며, 이를 통해 사진 매체의 표현 가능성을 확장하고 한국 사진의 지평을 넓히는 데 기여해왔다. 그녀의 작업은 일관된 문제의식을 바탕으로 하면서도, 사진의 형식과 방법론을 끊임없이 변화시켜 왔다는 점에서 주목된다. 이번 수상전은 동시대 사회를 바라보는 그의 예리한 감각과 사진적 실험을 함께 살펴보는 자리로, 한국 사진이 오늘의 현실과 긴장하며 어떻게 새로운 시각 언어를 만들어갈 수 있는지를 보여준다.

The DongGang Photography Award, one of the most prestigious and historic awards in Korean photography, is presented to photographers who have contributed to the development of photography in Korea through dedicated creative practice and have helped introduce Korean photography to a wider international audience. Each year, the recipient is selected through a rigorous review by photography experts, and an exhibition highlighting the awardee’s body of work is held during the DongGang International Photo Festival.

Anna Lim has represented the anxiety and fear embedded in contemporary society, as well as the violence of power, through her distinctive imagination and original perspective. In doing so, she has expanded the expressive possibilities of the photographic medium and contributed to broadening the horizon of Korean photography. Her work is particularly notable for its consistent critical awareness, while continuously transforming the forms and methodologies of photography. This award exhibition offers an opportunity to examine her sharp perception of contemporary society and her photographic experimentation, showing how Korean photography can create a new visual language while remaining in tension with the realities of today.
