서강(西江)의 물줄기가 오랜 세월 산자락을 휘감아 흐르며 만들어낸 한반도 지형은 한반도면을 대표하는 상징적 장소입니다. 주천강과 평창강이 합류하기 전, 침식과 퇴적 작용으로 형성된 이 지형은 삼면이 물로 둘러싸인 모습과 동쪽의 가파른 절벽, 서쪽의 완만한 모래사장이 어우러져 실제 한반도를 축소해 놓은 듯한 풍경을 보여줍니다. 본래 ‘서면’이었던 지역명은 이러한 지형의 상징성과 브랜드 가치를 높이기 위해 2009년 주민들의 뜻에 따라 ‘한반도면’으로 변경되었습니다. 또한 이곳은 쌍용C&E를 중심으로 한 시멘트 산업의 거점이자, ‘쌍용리’라는 지명으로도 널리 알려진 현대 산업의 현장이기도 합니다.

The Korean Peninsula-shaped terrain, created over a long period by the flow of the Seogang River as it wound around the mountain slopes, is a symbolic landmark of Hanbando-myeon. Formed by erosion and sedimentation before the Jucheon River and Pyeongchang River meet, this landform resembles a miniature version of the Korean Peninsula, with water surrounding it on three sides, steep cliffs to the east, and a gentle sandy area to the west. Originally named Seomyeon, the area was renamed Hanbando-myeon in 2009 through the will of local residents, in order to enhance the symbolic and brand value of this distinctive landscape.
